FAIL TO PREPARE, PREPARE TO FAIL

With summer approaching fast (Yes, we know it doesn’t feel like it just yet… hang in there!), it is time for most of us to tighten up our diets and get ready for bathing suit season. The best way to stay on top of your diet? Prepare, prepare, prepare. By preparing your own food, not only are you in control of the ingredients in the recipe, you are ensuring that it is ready to eat when you need it. Simple, right?

Well, we can only do our best. Conflicts pop up despite our best intentions and often; you are at the mercy of your closest restaurant to make the decision for you.

To best prepare ourselves for when we can’t prepare, here is a list of a few things we’ve learned over the years that have helped us stay on target:

1. Have a zip lock bag of your favorite protein powder at your work place.

2. Leave the house with a Quest bar in your gym bag. Just be careful that you don’t end up eating your protein bars just for the sweet taste!

3. Always have the following item in your fridge: Pre-washed salad greens, low fat cottage cheese, 0% Greek yogurt, Can’t Believe It’s Not Butter spray, and eggs.

4. Great pantry foods: canned tuna, salsa (We like ours hot!), canned chickpeas, lentils, other beans, and protein powder.

When in doubt, some brown rice from your nearest Chinese restaurant with a can of tuna and a few tablespoons of salsa does the trick! To this day, this is one of our favorite quick meals!

What are some of your go-to’s for when you’re on the run? Share them with us!

Until next time,
Maik Wiedenbach
