The Gym Landscape has Changed- A Lot!

According to the economist and yours truly, the gym landscape has shifted to a barbell (pun intended): on one side, we have the rise of no-frills, super-cheap gyms, and on the other, a surge in high-end luxury fitness centers.

This polarization in the fitness industry highlights an important trend—people are either opting for the most affordable, basic option, or they’re seeking an exclusive, premium experience.
What does this mean for the middle ground? It’s slowly disappearing.

Consumers are either driven by price or experience, leaving little room for the mid-tier gyms to compete effectively.

This shift offers important lessons for any business: understanding where you fit on the value spectrum is crucial. Are you competing on price, or are you offering an exceptional experience that justifies a higher cost?

A gym like ours thrives in this environment since we offer very high quality coaching, the best equipment and top of the line nutrition advice.
Our gym also has a clear cut identity that makes it stand out, whereas most gyms simply compete via price and geography.

At this point, the customer realizes which gyms have invested in equipment along with educating their trainers vs simply cutting price by removing services.

Amongst the high end gyms, clients will gravitate toward those that produce results . Luxury is great but in the end, people want abs not eucalyptus scented towels.
