I actually struggled a bit with the decision to take on today’s topic as it is controversial to say the least. But I feel that some proper information should be out there, in the end people will do what they want but at least I did my part in terms of educating those who are willing to listen..

Ok, with that out of the way let’s look at this fat burning drug which is having a resurgence in the fitness world, courtesy of unscrupulous coaches and reckless athletes.
DNP ( 2,4-Dinitrophenol) basically impairs ATP or energy production in the cells. Because of this the body will then use carbohydrate and fat stores as energy, which gets dissipated as heat.
The substance was discovered during World War I as it is used in the production of explosives. So when workers in ammunition factories lost large amounts of weight by absorbing DNP through the skin, someone made the connection a new wonder drug was born.
If the idea of swallowing an explosive seems like a strange idea, you are not alone.
DNP was widely used as a diet aid in the 30s, people lost about 3-4 lbs a week without diet or exercise (ironically, DNP is the only supplement that holds what Dr. Oz promises). After several people went blind and/or died, it was pulled of the market and made its way into the underground.
So what are the the downsides? Well, your body temperature can keep going up until a cool 111 degrees to the point were you’ll become a very lean and shredded corpse.
The difficulty with DNP is twofold
1. All side effects are dose dependent. Since DNP is not manufactured by a proper pharmaceutical company, but by sketchy underground labs you never know how much DNP your capsules are containing.
2. Everyone reacts different to the substance, some people exhibit severe side effects (insomnia, shortness of breath, sweating, dizziness, nausea, decreased production of insulin and T3, death) from the first dose on, whereas others can tolerate very high amounts of DNP. The problem is that you do not know which group you ll fall into until you try it.
Bottom line: DNP is the most effective fat burner out there, but the risk/reward ratio is so horrible that nobody should touch it. If you need help getting leaner, reach out to yours truly for some personal training in NYC!
