The pandemic is over- or is it?
One of the most fascinating aspects of the whole covid situation is that there is no one Covid experience. There is only your experience that day which depends on geography, gender, relationship statue, income etc etc.
In certain parts of the world, things are getting better and there might even be hope for a normal summer. In other parts, things are spiraling out of control.
Essentially it is a K shaped recovery. Things are improving quickly for the top part of the letter, while the lower.. well, you get the idea.
But even the K should all be looked at a micro level. While the US is recovering the experience is very different in Dallas vs NY where 50 % of all businesses are under water.
Even in NY, the recovery varies greatly by zip code and living situation.
Where am I going with this?
This might be rather naive of me but I truly hope that the pandemic made most of us a bit more aware and maybe even kinder.
One idea is not to be tone deaf, we all remember last year’s celebrities beach/ Hamptons pics with the caption ” we are all in this together” …umm no. You live in a mansion with 15 servants, which hardly compares to a single mother in the Bronx.
If you are on the upper part of the recovery, be grateful and think about what you might be able to do to help those who are less fortunate.
Should you be in a temporary downswing, remember that all through history things are never as good or as bad as they seem. Things will improve over time!
